2017 Ford F-150 Powertrain Advances

2017 Ford F-150 Release Date and Powertrain

We’ve just gotten a sneak peek at the 2017 Ford F-150 release date and powertrain advances. A new available 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine and 10-speed automatic transmission promise to make the powertrain on the new F-150 even more powerful and reliable than those that have come before.

The 2017 Ford F-150 will go on sale this fall, about the same time as the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor release date. The new available powertrain combo will be able to provide up to 450 pound-feet of torque. That is 30 more pound-feet than the previous generation engine, and also best-in-class among gasoline or diesel V6 engines. This will also mark the first time a ten-speed volume production automatic transmission has been available from any automaker.

Second Generation 3.5-L EcoBoost

Featuring advanced technology like standard engine stop-start, direct fuel injection, weight-saving design, and new turbocharger technology, the second generation 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 available on the 2017 Ford F-150 promises to deliver top power and performance. It will also deliver the efficiency that truck customers are beginning to demand.

All-New 10-Speed Transmission

Thanks to advanced materials and cutting-edge design, the new ten-speed automatic transmission available on the 2017 Ford F-150 will deliver even smoother shifting and confident acceleration. Thanks to improved Tow/Haul and Sport modes, this transmission should allow F-150 drivers to be able to get even more work done with more fun and efficiency.

We’re sure that this information is just the tip of the iceberg as far as cool features and capability on the new 2017 Ford F-150. There are already thousands of reasons to love the new aluminum-paneled Ford F-150 (check out just five of them at this blog post) but Ford will always keep moving forward and adding great features.

  • Refuse to buy a Ford F150 until I can get a V8 with the 10 speed transmission, not I nor any of my friends will be buying the V6, no matter what the media is saying, Ford is making a big mistake, my father was truck superintendent at the Kansas City plant for 39yrs, he would be rolling over in his grave, if thought Ford was giving up on the V8.

  • Will the 2017 F150 4x4 eco / 10 speed trans. capable of being towed four wheel down behind a motor home like the 2016 fi50.
