Generation 2 (1978 – 1979)

With the release of Generation 2, the Ford Bronco was more popular than ever. Starting with the 1978 model, the Bronco has seen some major design changes, including sharing the F-150 platform, getting a more luxurious interior, and beefing up its size.

Generation 3 (1980 – 1986)

Generation 3 was all about improving performance and fuel economy. Ford engineers worked to reduce the amount of fuel consumed by the Bronco and made changes to the powertrain to make driving a Bronco feel smoother regardless of the terrain. More luxurious features were also added to help passengers feel more comfortable.

Generation 4 (1987 – 1991)

Ford’s path towards improving performance has led to aerodynamic design changes to the Bronco. Instead of boxy edges, designers have rounded out the design of the Bronco a bit for a more modern and tough look. As technologies advanced, the powertrain and safety features also got some serious upgrades.

Generation 5 (1992 – 1996)

Until recently, Generation 5 was the last Bronco generation. Generation 5 featured a classic yet modern and thrilling design that will be remembered for years later. Safety improvements were made to make the Bronco safer than ever before.

Generation 6 (2021 – )

Ford fans, young and old, were thrilled to hear that the Bronco is returning starting with 2021. Generation 6 honors its past self by incorporating that classic and legendary look that the Bronco held for decades along with modern design elements to make the Bronco more appealing to drivers today. Focusing on off-road performance, the Bronco is expected to make a huge splash among adventurous drivers. Not only that, but the excitement of the Bronco has led Ford to create the all-new Bronco Sport, a crossover cousin of the famous Bronco.
