The 2017 Chevy Volt can be charged using a basic 120-volt electric plug, but with a professionally installed 240-volt charging system (like what you would need to run a washing machine or larger air conditioning unit) it can be fully recharged in as little as 4.5 hours. Chevrolet estimates that with regular charging, Volt owners will be able to go 1,000 miles between needing to fill up at the gas pump.
Based on average fuel economy for vehicles on the road today, nearly 58 million gallons of gas have been saved by Volt drivers.
