Name Change

Before we get too into the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, there is something that should be explained first. Technically, the 2019 Santa Fe is the newest Santa Fe Sport. For 2019, Hyundai is dropping "Sport" from the name of the five-passenger SUV. The eight-passenger SUV, formerly known as the Santa Fe, will be renamed the Santa Fe XL for 2019. A little confusing, but we hope that clears things up!

Engine Options

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe comes with three different powertrains, including a diesel engine! First, there's the Theta II 2.4-liter four-cylinder that offers 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Next, there's the Theta II turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder with 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there's the 2.2-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine with 190 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque!

Transmission

One of the biggest new additions for the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is its new eight-speed automatic transmission. Even though it has two extra gears than the previous automatic drivetrain, its lighter and adds ratio range at the top and bottom of output speeds for quick, crisp shifting and efficient driving!
